Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 14, 2026
1. Overview
TwinTrace ("we", "our", "the app") is a desktop application developed by Master's Inc. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
2. Data We Collect
TwinTrace is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal data:
- Microsoft Account (optional): If you choose to sign in, we receive your display name and email address from Microsoft. This is used solely to display your profile in the app and to sync your Pro license across devices.
- License Information: If you purchase Pro via the Microsoft Store, your purchase is managed entirely by Microsoft. We do not process or store payment information.
- File Scanning: All file scanning and duplicate detection happens entirely on your local device. No file data, file names, paths, or hashes are ever transmitted to any server.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect analytics or telemetry
- We do not track your usage patterns
- We do not access, upload, or transmit your files
- We do not sell or share any personal data with third parties
- We do not use cookies (this is a desktop application)
4. Local Storage
The app stores the following data locally on your device:
- App settings (theme preference)
- Authentication token cache (for persistent sign-in)
- License key (if activated via key)
This data is stored in your local AppData folder and is never transmitted externally.
5. Microsoft Account Integration
When you sign in with a Microsoft account, the app uses Microsoft Authentication Library (MSAL) to authenticate. The only permission requested is "User.Read" which provides your basic profile information (name and email). We do not access your contacts, files, or any other Microsoft services.
6. Third-Party Services
- Microsoft Identity Platform: Used for optional sign-in. Subject to Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
- Microsoft Store: Used for Pro purchases. Subject to Microsoft Store terms.
7. Data Deletion
Since we don't store your data on any server, there is nothing to delete on our end. You can sign out of your Microsoft account in Settings, and uninstalling the app removes all local data.
8. Children's Privacy
TwinTrace is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
